True innovators are rare, comprising as little as 1 percent of the population, but without them, where would companies like Apple be? According to Jeff Cohn, innovators are socially savvy, charming, and brilliant in isolation. Grooming innovators can be difficult, says Cohn, who explains that they must be taken out of their comfort zone to truly excel. Some key lessons:
-Get great mentors, wherever they are in your organization
-Get in the middle--don't be held down by your position. Be in a position where you can work with individuals across the organization.
